Henry Ian Cusick had an eclectic background, born to a Peruvian mother and Scottish/Irish father, and raised in Trinidad and Scotland.
After training at The Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama, he joined the Glasgow Citizens Theatre. Before becoming full-time cast of Lost, he was one of the busiest actors in theatre in Great Britain, performing with The Royal Shakespeare Company, The Royal National Theatre, 7:84 Theatre Co., Citizens Theatre, The Theatre Babel, and appearing multiple times at the Edinburgh International Festival. One of his roles was as Jesus in The Gospel Of John. In TV, he guest starred on 24 as German agent Theo Stoller.
Cusick was staying with actor Brian Cox when he first met producer Carlton Cuse, Cox's neighbour. Later, he auditioned for the part of Desmond in London, sending in his audition tape to LA. After Cusick accepted the role, Cuse saw that scripts were being sent to an address next door to his. It was then that Cuse remembered meeting Cusick in Cox driveway several months earlier.[source needed]
Cusick currently is a main cast member of Lost and resides in Hawaii with his wife, Annie Wood, and three children Elias, 13, Lucas, 8, and Esau, 7 (Ages as of February 2007
